چکیده

Methods 254 cases of ICU January 1 to December 31, 2013 were reviewed, demographic variables, height, weight ingress and egress, ingress and egress BMI, admission diagnosis, APACHE II, SOFA recorded , TISS, presence of acute kidney injury (AKI), acute respiratory failure (ARDS), mechanical ventilatory support days (MVS), length of stay in ICU and reason for ICU discharge. The correlation between baseline BMI and the prevalence of AKI, SIRA, AMV days, length of stay in ICU and mortality were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

The Dose-Response Relationship Between Body Mass Index and Mortality in Subjects Admitted to the ICU With and Without Mechanical Ventilation.

BACKGROUND Obesity has been associated with increased mortality in the general population, whereas a paradoxical relationship between higher body mass index and lower mortality has been referred to as the obesity paradox in critically ill patients. However, it remains unknown whether a particular subgroup is most affected. The aim of the present study is to elucidate whether obesity is associat...

The Body Mass Index as a Prognostic Factor of Critical Care

BACKGROUND/AIMS Obesity is a worldwide concern, but its influence on critical care outcomes is not well understood. We tested the hypothesis that abnormal body mass index (BMI) would be an independent predictor of higher mortality rates in intensive care unit (ICU). METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients who had admitted to the ICU from January 2007 to December 2007. Admission BMI was a...
